On investing... energy of course
On the weekend I had the pleasure of watching some live music... I love live music!
It's so much better than recorded music, and I think I finally learned why while watching the lead singer of a few bands this weekend. When you listen to live music you also get to see the band's actual energy expenditure. And while it was just the lead singers I noticed first, by the end of the concert I realized that all of the musicians were pouring their hearts into our ears through their instruments. Their energy seemed to bring the instruments alive so it seemed that the drummer was being bounced off of his kit and the lead guitarist found himself in a wild struggle of a dance to tame his guitar.
I wasn't expecting much going into the show, but I was definitely inspired afterward! I had forgotten just how much energy we all have... the problem is that most of the things we do aren't energizing.
Specifically, we humans like to fall into habits, simple patterns of behaviour. We like to go on autopilot sometimes... which is great, because autopilot conserves energy and sometimes that's what we need to do!
But a lot of times, we just end up feeling tired, burnt out, and detached from our lives, from our passions and our true source of energy. Why not break a few of your habits to see what energy you can muster?
In light of all this energy talk, I was reminded of a video I saw a few years ago. The video was created using a technique called "stop-motion". It's so cool, and looks like magic! I wonder if you can figure out the method... and when you do, imagine just how much energy went into producing this 5 minute clip!
